Morphettville racing takes place on Saturday, August 24, with a 9-race program set down for the Morphettville track.
  • Race 3: No.6  Reservoir Dog
  • Race 4: No.5  Khor
  • Race 7: No.10  The Guava
  • Race 8: No.5  My Khalifa

We have the best bets picked from across the meeting with a Best Bet and other value selections for  Morphettville racecourse.

Race 3: No.6  Reservoir Dog

The five-year-old Reservoir Dog has found his mojo recently and looks well placed here for back-to-back victories in this event.

Last start, the Choisir gelding gave them a galloping lesson when he cleaned-up a BM64, here over the 1600m trip.

Jacob Opperman was aboard for his fourth ride on the gelding where he settled him mid-field with cover and in the run home, fired him up enough to cross the line 1.5 lengths clear of the pack.

He does no early work from gate four here as he clashes with BM68 company over 1550m in this assignment.

Opperman sticks with him and with a clear run to the line again, he can make it two-straight in this contest.

Race 4: No.5  Khor

Ciaron Maher crosses the border with his Victorian-based galloper Khor who is high-flying this time in and despite a class rise, looks a genuine winning chance in this event.

Last start, the Savabeel gelding came off an unplaced run at his first attempt on a synthetic track (at Ballarat) when he returned to a turf surface and destroyed them in a BM64 over 2100m at Sandown.

Blake Shinn settled him back in the before taking over inside the final 150m and leaving them in his wake as he crossed the line more than two lengths clear in the end.

Joe Toeroek has the reins for this assignment and from gate four, he maps to settle near mid-field with cover.

His seven starts this preparation have ended with two victories and three runner-up prizes so to say he is on his game is an understatement.

With a trouble-free run here, his first look at the track could well be a winning one.

Race 7: No.10  The Guava

Having his first start for Team Cahill here, The Guava is third-up and ticks enough boxes to suggest he is a prime candidate for victory in this event.

Last start, the Akeed Mofeed gelding came off a first-up win when he finished a close-up third in a BM72 over 1200m at Murray Bridge.

Jake Toeroek was in the saddle that day and trapped three-wide without cover, he did well to finish less than a length from the winner, nosed out of second prize on the line.

He draws the middle of the 14-strong field here and maps to settle mid-field with cover this time.

Jason Holder is the new pilot for this event and already a winner when third-up, and a winner at the track, he should be there at the finish in this contest.

Race 8: No.5  My Khalifa

We are shooting for some value here as My Khalifa heads to the gates, third-up and looks ready to go one better in this event.

Last start, the Pride Of Dubai gelding showed improvement when he beat all but one home in the Group 3  Behemoth Stakes, here over 1200m.

With Dominic Tourneur aboard for the fourth time, he settled well back (from a bad gate) but finished strongly to claim the runner-up prize in the big event.

He draws wide again here in gate 11 (of 12) and maps to settle near field with Tourneur retaining the ride.

If he can score a little luck from the draw and is close enough on the corner, he can figure in the finish for this contest.

Boasting track specialist status, with six victories coming from his 13 starts here, he looks well worth an each-way ticket here.
