  • My Welcomestranger is favoured in Race 2 based on a strong debut and favourable conditions.
  • Grafton Street, with international pedigree, is well-placed over 2400m in Race 5.
  • Unbeaten Pulsator aims for a third straight win in Race 8 after dominant victories.

Rosehill racing takes place on Wednesday, October 14, with a quality metropolitan meeting set down for Rosehill.

Here are our best bets from the meeting, which comes on the same day as a big meeting at Caulfield in Melbourne with the Caulfield Cup Carnival in full swing.

Race 2 No.3- My Welcomestranger

My Welcomestranger looks hard to beat in Race 2 at Rosehill. The Mitchell Freedman-trained gelding has had just one career start, finishing third over 1250m at Newcastle on September 19. He settled handy to the speed and kept coming in the straight before being run down by Gridlock, who has since gone on to score an impressive Benchmark 64 victory at Kembla Grange. The son of Russian Revolution should take plenty of improvement from that debut effort and draws to enjoy the favours from the inside barrier, where he can box seat just behind the speed. The step up to 1400m looks ideal, while the booking of Tim Clark adds further confidence.

Race 5 No.3- Grafton Street

We stretch out over the 2400m in Race 5 and the promising Grafton Street can go on with the job after leading all the way at Warwick Farm over the 2140m at his most recent start. The five-year-old has had just the four career starts and was sent over to Australia after a debut win in Ireland last year. He placed in his first two starts over here before relishing the step up in trip last time. The step up to 2400m looks ideal on pedigree, with Grafton Street out of Ennistymon, a daughter of champion sire Galileo who finished runner-up in both the Epsom Oaks (2400m) and Ribblesdale Stakes (2400m), suggesting he should have no trouble seeing out the trip. Rachel King rides and is fresh off a stunning win on Warwoven in the Caulfield Guineas.

Race 8 No.15- Pulsator

Pulsator can maintain his unbeaten record when he steps out in the last of eight races at Rosehill on Wednesday. The three-year-old was too strong when leading all the way in a Super Maiden at Kembla Grange on debut over the 1200m before backing up that performance at the same track over the 1400m on September 26. Those wins have come at a combined margin of four lengths. This is another step up for the son of Snitzel, while the prospect of rain-affected ground should hold few concerns.
