The Danny Shum-trained galloper has been knocking on the door for his first win and stepping-up in distance tonight, it can happen in this event.

Last start, the Irish-sired gelding was having start number eight when he made it back-to-back minor placings where he beat all but one home in a Class 4 Hcp over 1400m at Sha Tin.

Zac Purton was aboard for the first time and got the best out of him after settling mid-field with cove before weaving through traffic on the turn, then in the run home, hit the line well but arrived too late to grab the big prize, beaten a head on the line.

The three-year-old was doing his best work over the final 100m, indicating the step-up to the 1650m tonight could suit him even better.

He draws gate 10 (of 12) and is expected to drop back at the start and settle at the rear with Purton remaining aboard for this assignment.

Running into form and having more ground to play with, he looks a real threat in this contest.

Race 8: No.3 Crimson Flash

Mark Newnham saddles-up Crimson Flash here who comes off black-type racing tonight and looks set to bounce back in this event.

Last start, the Showtime gelding missed a podium spot again when he finished unplaced in the Group 3 Premier Cup over 1400m at Sha Tin.

Beaten at the barrier, he drew the outside gate (10) and was three-deep early as he drifted back to the tail of the field, then in the run home (and little chance of victory), he could still see them all inside the final 300m but finished strongly to beat four them across the line.

It’s a whole new ball game tonight where he drops back sharply in grade and faces Class 2 company and draws ideally in gate three where he maps to settle mid-field or better with cover.

Regular rider Andrea Atzeni is legged aboard for ride number 13, looking for his sixth win on the four-year-old and already a track specialist, boasting three wins from his four starts here, looks a serious winning chance in this contest.

Race 9: No.4 Thunder Kit

The Francis Lui-trained galloper is in great touch this preparation and making his track debut tonight, looks in the mix for victory in this event.

Last start, the Rich Enuff gelding came off an unplaced effort over 1400m when he dropped back in trip and beat all but one home in a Class 3 Hcp over 1200m at Sha Tin.

Drawn the carpark in gate 11 (of 14), he settled back at the start with only two behind him to the turn, then in the run home, was held-up most of the way before finally seeing daylight inside the final 100m where he lifted nicely, arriving in time to grab third prize, finishing less than two lengths from the $1.20 winner (Mr Incredible) in the end (who clocked 1:08.4 for the trip).

He gets the gun-run from gate one tonight and maps to settle near mid-field on the fence with regular rider Vince Ho aboard for his sixth ride on the four-year-old.

No Mr Incredible tonight, and from the good draw, he looks a main contender for the big prize in this contest.
