Race 4: No.4 Champagne Hero
The Randwick-based galloper is second-up today where his stats suggest he can get the job done in this event.
Last start, the Maurice gelding resumed after more than eight months off the scene and in need of the run, finished unplaced in a BM72, here over 1300m.
Zac Wadick settled him mid-field to the turn, then in the run home, held his ground without improving to finish eighth in the 12-strong field.
Stepping-up to the mile trip here, he draws well in gate and maps to settle better than mid-field with Wadick in the saddle again.
Unbeaten in two previous second-up appearances, the scene looks set for another improved effort in this contest.
Race 5: No.5 Satono Jasmine
The Brad Widdup-trained galloper is high-flying of late and looks a better than even chance of ringing-up the hat-trick in this event.
Last start, the Japanese-sired filly came off a big maiden win at Gosford when she franked that effort and destroyed her rivals in a BM64 over 1600m at Hawkesbury.
Settling mid-field one off the fence early, Tyler Schiller worked her into the race nearing the turn, then in the run home, the filly raced to the lead inside the final 200m and went on to score by almost four lengths on the line.
From gate seven, she maps to settle mid-field again with Chad Schofield back for the ride after steering her to that maiden victory two starts back.
Taking on BM72 gallopers today, she has the runs on the board and in winning form, looks set to go on with it in this contest.
Race 6: No.7 Be Quiet
Newcastle trainer Kim Waugh saddles-up Be Quiet here who is second-up and more than capable of figuring in the finish in this event.
Last start, the Vadamos mare was fresh off a 19-week break and wasn’t disgraced when finishing fourth in a BM72 over 1000m on the Kensington circuit at Randwick.
From the outside gate (9), she was caught wide to the turn before scouting even wider, then in the run home, chased hard all the way to finish just behind the placegetters in the race.
Fitter for that run back, she gets the gun-run from gate one here and has Jay Ford retaining the ride for this assignment.
Already a winner when second-up, she looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
