Happy Valley racing takes place on Wednesday, February 26, with a 9-race program set down for Happy Valley racetrack.

Race 4: No.1 Yee Cheong Spirit

Race 4: No.1 Yee Cheong Spirit

The Danny Shum-trained galloper is in top-shelf form this preparation and looks well placed here to go on with it in this event.

Last start, the Australian-sired gelding came off his only unplaced run this campaign and bounced back to beat all but one home in a Class 4 Hcp, here over 1200m.

Settling back in the field, he spotted the leaders six lengths to the turn where Hugh Bowman eased him wide and once clear, he ran home stoutly to arrive in time for second prize on the line.

From gate seven tonight, he maps to settle in a similar position with new pilot Ryan Moore aboard.

Six starts at the Happy Valley track have resulted in a win and four minor placings to date and with a clear run home again in this contest, he can get the job done tonight.

Race 6: No.4 Fun N Fun Together

The Frankie Lor-trained galloper is third-up tonight and should be ready to break through for his first win in this event.

Last start, the Charm Spirit gelding showed improvement when second-up finishing third in a Class 4 Hcp over 1200m at Sha Tin.

The four-year-old gets to cut his teeth on the Happy Valley track for the first time night where he gets all the favours from gate one and Lyle Hewitson as the new pilot for this assignment.

He maps to settle near the speed and with a genuine pace being set, he should get first crack the leaders in the run home where he can take control and collect his first gold medal tonight.

Race 8: No.6 Gallant Valour

Jamie Richards saddles-up Gallant Valour here who is in great shape this preparation and boasting a strong track record, looks the testing material in this event.

Last start, the Heroic Valour gelding chalked-up win number four when he arrived in time to claim victory in a Class 3 Hcp, here over 1200m.

Brenton Avdulla was aboard for his fifth ride on the gelding and settled him two pairs back, one off the fence.

Nearing the turn, he copped a check which had him unbalanced and off the bit but soon after straightening, he regained his composure and stormed home out wide to grab the spoils for the race.

Leaving the machine from gate four, he maps to settle in a similar position here with Avdulla steering the ship again.

The four-year-old has raced 16 times at the track, collecting first prize on four occasions and scoring seven other podium finishes to boot so its fair to say he knows his way around Happy Valley.

Avoiding any dramas tonight, he looks the one to beat again.
