Race 3: No.2 Moonhaven
The Mark Currie-trained galloper is third-up here and looks well placed for back-to-back success in this event.
Last start, the Shalaa gelding was second-up when he clobbered his rivals in a BM78, here over the 1000m sprint with Cody Collis aboard.
He settled back in the field of seven before gaining a split in the run home and once he found the front, that was all she wrote as he went on to score by almost three lengths on the line.
Facing BM75 opposition here, he draws well in gate three and maps to do no early work as settles near mid-field on the fence.
Jace McMurray is the new pilot and now a track and distance winner, the five-year-old should prove hard to hold out in this contest.
Race 7: No.2 Kokatahi
Chris Waller saddles-up Kokatahi here who comes north of the border for the first time and looks a serious contender for the major prize in this event.
Last start, the Sydney-based gelding was third-up when he broke through for his first win in a 1500m Maiden at Hawkesbury.
Tommy Berry had him near mid-field on settling before easing him into the race soon after straightening where he eventually gained the upper hand and went on to score by almost a length on the line.
Making his Eagle Farm debut, he gets the gun-run from gate one and maps to be mid-field or better on settling with Damien Thornton in the saddle.
Coming off a win and at his peak after three starts back, he looks in the mix for the winner’s purse in this contest.
Race 9: No.6 Facundo
The Kelly Schweida-trained galloper is second-up here and ticks all the boxes that suggest he is the testing material in this event.
Last start, the English-bred gelding resumed off a 19-week break and finished unplaced in a BM85, here over 1200m.
Not usually strong first-up, Cody Collis settled him mid-field from a wide draw and while not improving from there, he held his own in the run home, beaten just two lengths on the line.
Drawn well in gate five here, he maps to settle right behind the speed with Michael Rodd back for his second ride on the gelding.
Boasting five wins from his ten starts to date and unbeaten in two previous second-up appearances, he looks a serious winning chance in this contest.
