Race 5: No.6 Just Walter John
The Mitchell Pateman-trained galloper is in sensational form this preparation and ticks all the boxes that suggest his Bunbury debut can be a winning one.
Last start, the Snippetson gelding bounced back to the winner’s circle when he took out a Class 1 Hcp over 1200m at Pinjarra.
With Patrick Carbery aboard, he carried 59.5kgs in the set weights event and still managed to score by almost a length on the line.
He gets all the favours from gate one where he is unbeaten in two 1200m events to date, facing the same challenge here wit Holly Watson aboard for the first time.
Yet to miss a podium finish in seven starts to date, he looks the testing material in this contest.
Race 7: No.3 London’s Image
The Team Williams-trained galloper is high-flying after two starts back and looks set for back-to-back success in this event.
Last start, the Headwater mare was second-up and showed plenty of improvement when she claimed victory in the Listed Pinjarra Classic over 1300m at Pinjarra.
With Lucy Fiore aboard, she took out the honours in a tight finish, crossing the line a head in front of the minor placegetters in the end.
Lining-up here in another Listed event, she draws gate five and maps to settle near the speed with Fiore retaining the ride for this assignment.
Already a winner when third-up and a three-time winner in Listed company, the four-year-old has the resume that suggests she is the one to beat in this contest.
Race 8: No.4 Fancy Red
Adam Durrant saddles-up Fancy Red here who is in top-shelf form this preparation and ticks the boxes that suggest she can win again in this event.
Last start, the Sessions mare came off a seven-day back-up and went one better by winning a Rating 72+ over the mile trip at Ascot with William Pike in the saddle.
Settling on the leader’s heels, she travelled sweetly to the turn before coming off the fence and after taking over, fended off the late challenge to score by half a length on the line.
Ideally drawn in gate three, Pike should have her box-seating from that draw and already a track and distance winner, she can go back-to-back in this contest.
