Race 3: No.9 Powerful Tune
The Kris Lees-trained galloper lines-up here for her second race start and after an impressive debut, looks well placed her for back-to-back success in this event.
Last start, the French-sired filly faced the starter for the first time and clobbered her opposition when she took out a Maiden Hcp, here over 1007m.
On a Heavy 8 that day, William Stanley had her leading on settling before turning up the heat in the run home where she held them all at bay and crossed the line two lengths clear in the end.
Ideally drawn in gate two, she maps to be showing them the way again with Stanley retaining the ride for this assignment.
Now a winner at the track and proven in the conditions, the three-year-old will take beating in this contest.
Race 5: No.8 Moonlight Diva
The Sally Taylor-trained galloper has mixed her form this preparation but gets the chance here to bounce back and claim her second career win in this event.
Last start, the Puissance de Lune mare came off a good win in wet conditions at Coffs Harbour when she finished unplaced in a Class 1/Maiden Plate over 1520m at Inverell.
From a wide draw, Grady Spokes settled her back in the field on the fence and in the run home, she held her own without improving and finished down the track in the end.
Here, she draws much better in gate three and maps to settle mid-field or better on the fence with Spokes in the saddle again.
The Coffs Harbour win was on a Heavy 10 so conditions today will suit nicely.
Placed at the track three starts back and already a winner in the conditions, the four-year-old looks set to figure in the finish of this contest.
Race 6: No.4 Patrioticintention
Flying high this preparation, the Samantha McGuren-trained galloper has missed the podium just once in eight starts since resuming and only has to overcome the wide gate to add another top-three finish to his resume in this event.
Last start, the Starspangledbanner gelding rang-up win number three when he destroyed his rivals in a Class 2 Hcp over 1206m at Port Macquarie.
A copybook ride from apprentice Grace Palmer saw the gelding settle near last before tracking three-deep to the turn, then in the run home, revelled in the Heavy 10 conditions and soon after took the lead, going on to score by more than four lengths on the line.
Stepping-up to Class 3 company today, he draws the outside gate (12) and maps to settle back in the field for the trail with Palmer steering the ship again.
The heavy conditions today will be ideal for the six-year-old who is in career-best form and looks a serious contender for the big prize in this contest.
Race 7: No.10 Koritsi
Kylie Gavenlock saddles-up Koritsi here who has found her mojo and looks well placed to make it two-straight wins in this event.
Last start, the Snitzel mare finally broke through for her first career win when she took out a Maiden Plate at set weights, here over 1262m.
On a Heavy 8 that day, Chad Lever rode her a treat, settling third one off the fence before peeling off heels on the turn, then finishing best in the run home to grab the win by half a length on the line.
Stepping-up to Class 1 company today, she draws ideally in gate three and maps to settle in the first half-dozen with Lever calling the shots again for this assignment.
The rise in trip looks ideal for her now and with conditions to suit, the four-year-old looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
