Race 5: No.3 Reciprocal
Mick Huxtable saddles-up Reciprocal here who is three starts into this preparation and looks well placed here to grab the gold in this event.
Last start, the Rubick gelding came off a Class 1 win at Balaklava when he took on city class company and did well to grab third prize in a BM0-62 over 2294m at Morphettville.
Harry Grace settled him mid-field early before pushing forward before the turn and with a dream rails run, took over on straightening, but with the going so much better out wide on the Heavy 10 track, he was run down over the final 100m and had to settle for the minor prize.
From gate one, he maps to settle near field on the fence where he should enjoy another easy trail to the turn with Grace steering the ship again.
Fourth-up and at his peak, he drops to non-metro class here and should take beating in this contest.
Race 6: No.6 Sassy Little Miss
The Jon O’Connor-trained galloper has made a successful return to the track and looks every chance of going back-to-back in this event.
Last start, the Hanseatic filly resumed after eight months off the scene and she did it in style, breaking through for her first win by taking out a Maiden Plate over 1050m at Morphettville.
Settling second early, Caitlin Tootell took her to the lead inside the final 400m where she simply ran away with it, going on to score by more than a length on the line.
Stepping-up to Class 1 competition here, she draws gate six and maps to be near the speed on settling with Tootell in the saddle again.
Fitter for that first-up win, the three-year-old looks a solid each-way chance in this contest.
Race 7: No.3 Spangled Sipper
The Gawler-based galloper is second-up here and while not winning a race for more than 12 months, gets her chance to turn that around in this event.
Last start, the Starspangledbanner mare resumed off a 13-week spell and in need of the run, finished unplaced in a BM56, here over 1400m
From gate 11 (of 12), Teagan Voorham settled her two lengths last to the turn before coming off heels and turning as the widest runner, she could still see them all inside the final 300m but really knuckled down to beat almost half of them home, beaten just 2.5 lengths on the line.
Stepping-up to the mile trip here, she will strip fitter for that first-up run and from gate nine, maps to drop back and take a trail again with Jason Holder taking over as the new pilot.
Already a two-time winner when second-up and at a winner at the 1600m journey, the five-year-old could prove hard to hold out in this contest.
