Race 1: Two-Year-Old Hcp (1200m) – High Profit
The Troy Pascoe gelding resumed after 11 weeks in the paddock on Saturday and did well to grab third prize here.
Jumping from gate six, he raced wide to the turn then tracked even wider and while little to no chance of winning, to hit the line strongly and arrived in time to snatch the minor prize on the line.
That was just his second race start and he will only improve from that run with his next win not too far away.
Race 4: Benchmark 70 Hcp (2020m) – Enterprise Private
The Kris Lees-trained gelding was fresh off a 21-week spell on Saturday and caught the eye with a determined effort in this race.
Drawn out in gate 13 (of 15), he crossed behind the field and settled back near the tail where he trailed the field to the home turn and appearing under pressure, kept finding something to finish fifth in the event, beaten just a tick over three lengths on the line.
It was a notable effort while lumping 61kgs around the track on fresh legs.
He has finished on the podium twice previously when second-up so keep your eye out for him next-up.
Race 5: Three-Year-Old Fillies Hcp (1200m) – Grinzinger Champ
The Wootton Bassett filly was second-up on Saturday and sent out a $4.20 favourite, didn’t disappoint with an eye-catching win in this event.
Settling near mid-field one off the fence after drawing the outside gate (12), she took the turn eight lengths from the leaders but in the run home, found another gear and stormed home to win going away from them.
The three-year-old won third-up last preparation and after this effort, looks every chance of repeating that effort next start.
