Morphettville racing takes place on Saturday, February 22, with a 9-race program set down for Morphettville racetrack.

Race 3: No.2 Holmes
Race 7: No.4 Klabel
Race 8: No.13 Gotta Go Guru

Race 3: No.2 Holmes

The Andrew Clarken-trained Holmes has impressed in two starts back and looks well placed here to go one better in this event.

Last start, the Sepoy gelding made it two-straight runner-up finishes when he beat all but one home again in a BM66, here over 1550m.

His early gate speed will assist him as he contests the wide gate here (9) where he maps to settle in the first half-dozen.

Todd Pannell has ridden him to both career wins so far and returns to steer the ship in this contest.

Fitter for two runs back, he has placed twice here previously and looks set to ring up his first win at the track.

Race 7: No.4 Klabel

Team Jolly saddle-up Klabel here who is two starts back and looks well placed to pounce in this event.

Last start, the Vadamos gelding showed he was back to his best when he beat all but one home in a BM90, here over 1100m.

He settled three-wide without cover and did well in the run home to miss by a whisker in claiming the big prize, beaten a head on the line.

Drawn much better here, he gets the gun-run from gate one and maps to be box-seating on settling with Zac Spain returning for the ride.

He is yet to show up in Listed company but does drop 3kgs from last start and should be ready to peak third-up here.

Given the drop in weight and the good gate, he looks a genuine winning chance in this contest.

Race 8: No.13 Gotta Go Guru

The locally-trained galloper is in career best form of late and looks a serious contender in this event.

Last start, the Fiorente mare brought up the hat-trick when she easily accounted for a BM76 event, here over 2250m.

Sitting second, three lengths off the leader, Jason Holder kept her under a tight hold to the turn, then let her go and inside the final 100m, took control and went on to score by more than a length on the line carrying 60kgs on the day.

This Group 3 event is a harder affair but she drops 7kgs (more than a stone on the old scale) for it and has Taylor Johnstone returning for the ride, having steered the mare to victory twice previously.

In top-shelf form and having such a weight advantage over most of these, she looks right in the mix here and is well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
