Race 1: Meridiana
The John Sargent-trained galloper resumed on Saturday after five months off the scene and put in a top-shelf performance to win the BM72 Midway Hcp.
Coming from last on the turn, Josh Parr had her the widest runner on the turn where the Preferment mare found her feet and stormed home to win by half a length on the line.
That was her second win from five career starts to date and she will only improve off that effort so keep her safe in the blackbook.
Race 2: Ghost Walker
The Goulburn-based galloper was second-up on Saturday and showed a ton of improvement from his first-up failure when he finished a close-up second in the Class 2 Highway Hcp over 1500m.
He settled mid-field but was trapped wide to the turn, before scouting even wider and giving away too much start, impressed by making up enough ground to claim the silver medal in the race, beaten less than a length on the line.
Already a winner when third-up, keep an eye out for him back at the provincials.
Race 5: Sir Artie
The Team Archibald-trained galloper was second-up on Saturday and put in a bold performance to claim victory in the BM88 Hcp with Braith Nock in the saddle.
Coming off an unplaced effort in similar company when resuming, he showed plenty of improvement where he came from last on the turn to overhaul the field and take out the event by almost two lengths over the line.
Boasting a previous third-up victory as well, the Flying Artie gelding look to have returned in great touch now and should have plenty more in store for the rest of his current campaign.
