Race 4: No.4 Lady Of The Castle
The Nathan Doyle-trained galloper has found her mojo and fourth-up here, looks set to threaten for victory again in this event.
Last start, the Exceed And Excel mare improved of two runs back when third-up, she put in her best effort to score her first win by taking out a 1200m Maiden Hcp, here on the course proper.
Jean Van Overmeire settled her second, outside the leader where she matched strides to the turn, before taking over soon after and hanging on to score by half a length on the line.
Stepping-up to Class 1 company today, she draws ideally in gate three and maps to settle just behind the speed with Van Overmeire in the saddle again.
In great touch this time around, the four-year-old should prove hard to hold out in this contest.
Race 5: No.2 Stallone
Bjorn Baker saddles-up Stallone here who is second-up and looks all set for back-to-back success in this event.
Last start, the Extreme Choice gelding resumed after eight months off the scene and showing no signs of fatigue, claimed victory in a BM64 over 1400m at Illawarra Grange.
From gate three, Kerrin McEvoy had him settled just behind the speed to the turn, the on straightening, secured a gap and came off the leader’s heels, then went on with it and claimed victory on the line.
He faces similar company here and gets the gun-run from gate one where he maps to settle on or near the speed with McEvoy retaining the ride for this assignment.
Already a winner when second-up, the five-year-old looks the testing material in this contest.
Race 6: No.8 Tulipwood
The Team Archibald-trained galloper is second-up today and has shown enough to suggest she can figure in this event.
Last start, the well-bred Russian Revolution mare resumed after eight months in the paddock and did well to finish third in a BM66 over 1280m at Muswellbrook.
Adam Farragher settled her near the tail of the field early, then in the run home she was hampered by traffic and squeezed for room before finally seeing daylight where she hit the line and arrived in time to claim the minor prize in the race.
Ideally drawn here in gate two, she maps to settle mid-field on the fence with Farragher steering the ship again.
Unbeaten in two second-up appearances to date and carrying less weight, the five-year-old looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
Race 7: No.4 Grinzinger Pod
The James Harding-trained galloper is high-flying after two starts back and looks every chance of making it two-straight in this event.
Last start, the Calyx mare showed improvement off her first-up minor placing to claim victory in a BM64 over 1200m at Gosford.
Despite a wide draw, Shannen Llewellyn had her leading on settling to the turn before race-favourite You're The Choice levelled-up on straightening but the five-year-old fought on like a caged tiger and worried the favourite out of the race, claiming victory in a tight finish.
Ideally drawn in gate two here, she maps to do no early work and settle in the back-half of the field with Chad Schofield legged aboard for the first time.
All three career wins have come on dry tracks so the forecast Good 4 indicates conditions are ideal for her today and with a trouble-free run, she can give this contest a real shake.
