Race 7 went the way of Tropicus, who settled on the speed before kicking away to score by two-lengths from Arkansaw Kid. See You In Heaven produced a real eye-catcher to come from well back for 3rd. The multiple Group winner wasnt at her best last autumn in two runs but looks to be in for a strong campaign this time around and was placed in the Lets Elope Stakes (1400m) and the Ladies Day Vase (1600m) at Caulfield just under a year ago. She can be a major factor against the mares at her next few starts. 

Nice performance by the Kiwi mare, Damask Rose, at her local debut. The Mark Walker-trained mare in the Imperatriz colours was resuming over the 1200m and settled last in the field of 13 before doing her best work late with the fastest last 400m of the entire meeting to run 5th behind Magic Time, beaten one-and-a-half lengths. The lightly raced galloper comes over with an impressive CV, including a win in the $3.5 million The Kiwi earlier this year. Her best will be yet to come and the daugther of Savabeel will be an exciting prospect when she gets to the 1400m-1600m distance range. 

Treasurethe Moment confirmed her star credentials with a breathtaking return in the Memsie Stakes, extending her unbeaten streak to nine. Already a dual Oaks winner, she showcased a devastating turn of foot against one of the strongest Memsie fields in recent memory, surging past proven Group 1 stars with ease. With upcoming targets including the Makybe Diva and Turnbull Stakes, and possible spring grand finals in either the Cox Plate or Caulfield Cup, she is shaping as one of the headline acts of the season. Buckaroo also emerged from the Memsie as a horse to follow, despite being a $61 outsider. After a disappointing Sydney autumn, he reminded punters of his spring heroics by storming home for 3rd and he looks to be on track to defend his Underwood Stakes (1800m) crown before another crack at the Cups. Given his powerful late runs in both the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups last year, his Memsie return suggests he’s back in form and ready to make an impact again this spring.
