Sandown Racing Tips for July 29 – Ciaron Maher stable in for a big day as season draws to a close

Miss Lola has been relishing Soft to Heavy tracks of late and with more rain on the way in the lead up to Wednesday, the Chris Waller-trained filly should be hard to beat. The three-year-old broke her Maiden easily at the Lakeside circuit two starts ago on a Heavy 8 when leading all the way before having a crack at a Saturday race and placing 6th over the 1100m at Sandown. She found the 1100m in that grade a bit slick but did manage to go four lengths faster than standard benchmark, which is nearly five lengths better than the next best figures of any runner, while she went 5.4 lengths faster than standard in her win over the 1200m. The daughter of Blue Point will find her favoured spot in the first few without too many dramas from barrier 5 and should be at peak fitness after three runs. 

Blue Willow should get conditions to suit in Race 4. The Godolphin galloper is a bit of a daydreamer at the barriers and has a habit of being slowly away before catching the eye late. She has produced the fastest last 200m at her past two, placing 4th on the Lakeside circuit over the 1600m before a last start runner-up at Hillside over the 1800m. With the rail out 9m, this can play into the hands of those in the wider lanes, particularly when the track is Soft to Heavy, while the tempo looks suitable with the likes of Both Sides Now and Eleanor Dumont to string them along. 

Misapprehend should be hard to beat in Race 6. The Ciaron Maher filly showed promise in the summer with a three start campaign that culminated with a win at Lakeside and has had two runs so far, placing in each of those. She tackled a Saturday race at Flemington last time over the 1400m and stuck on well for 3rd behind Salizou, going a healthy 8.4 lengths faster than standard. This is easier and her win at her debut prep came when third up, while she gets the perfect run in transit with the 2kg claimer, Jabez Johnstone, to ride. The Tasmanian apprentice strikes at 26% for the stabke, providing a 28% profit on investment.
