Race 1 No.3- Ruskana
Ruskana comes down from Sydney and looks ready to break the Maiden. The Gain Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained galloper is yet to win in six starts but has placed in three and has been improving on benchmark figures as he has stepped up in distance. He tackled the 2000m at Hawkesbury at his most recent start and led at an even tempo before being run down by Longuis, holding a four-length gap on the 3rd placegetter. Worth noting that the 4th horse home has since come out and won. Ruskana went 3.2 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is a better figure than what any horse in this race has produced. Look for the son of Russian Revolution to lead and be hard to run down late in the piece.
Race 3 No.6- Lost The Plot
It was a solid effort by Lost The Plot when resuming over the 1217m here three weeks ago and the four-year-old can go one spot better here after filling the exacta behind Mighty Mystic. She led in that race on a Heavy 9 before just tiring in the last 200m. The Pakenham based galloper will strip fitter and is likely to get similar conditions again in this race. She can take a sit this time and conserve from barrier 3 after having to work from wider out last time.
Race 4 No.4- Koko
Koko can get the job done in Race 4. The four-year-old has been building towards a win and has placed in two of three this time in. She had excuses two starts ago at Sale when botching the start before being held up then stepped out at Cranbourne on July 16, filling the exacta behind Covert Action, going just one length slower than standard benchmark, which is the best figure that any horse in this race has produced. She improved a couple of lengths when fourth up at her last prep and can tuck in just behind the leading bunch from barrier 7, while the Heavy presents no concerns at all.
Race 6 No.4- Ataegina
This looks to be a suitable assignment for Ataegina. The seven-year-old narrowly missed out at Bendigo two starts ago when second up, flashing late to go down in a photo behind Omnic. She then tackled a BenchMark 78 on Finals Day on Flemington but was too fired up, racing keenly when 9th behind Changing Colours. The Luke Oliver mare comes back to her home trip and drops sharply in grade and her best for has come on Soft to Heavy tracks.
