Race 3: No Metro Wins Hcp (1000m) – Bonded Affair
The Stuart Kendrick-trained galloper was second-up on Saturday and caught the eye when a fast finishing third in this event.
Drawn gate 10 of 11, he settle back in the field to the turn, then in the run home, Daniel Moor had him crossing heels before storming home and arriving in time to grab that minor prize on the line.
Already a winner when third-up, he may be looking for a little further but stick with him just the same.
Race 4: Three-Year-Old Hcp (1000m) – Queen Olympias
The Chris Anderson-trained filly was impressive on Saturday after scoring her second-straight win and looks set to go on with it from here.
Unwanted in the market ($51), the three-year-old came off a Gold Coast Maiden win at big odds as well and franked that effort by repeating the dose in this event.
Sharing the lead early, the filly held the inside line to the turn where she eventually took control, then in the run home, she shifted out suddenly but had a big enough break to go on and win by half a length over the line.
The Wilde Ruler filly has shown enough in three starts to suggest she has plenty more to offer and it will pay to keep here safe for now.
Race 6: No Metro Wins Hcp (1400m) – Boondocks
The Michael Lakey-trained gelding made it back-to-back runner-up finishes when he beat all but Gambino home on Saturday.
He settled mid-field behind a tearaway leader before running home strongly and looked a winning chance until Gambino whizzed by to take home the gold medal, leaving the Zoustar gelding with second prize on the day.
The six-year-old is already a two-time winner when third-up and he could be well worth following this preparation.
