Race 4: No.4 Freeland
The Team Munce-trained galloper is second-up here and ticks enough boxes to suggest she can claim victory in this event.
Last start, the Written By mare resumed off a 21-week break and wasn’t disgraced when finishing fifth in a BM78, here over 1200m.
From the outside gate (8), he missed the jump and settled last early before tracking wide on the turn and while too far back to be a winning chance, he still made up good ground in the run home to grab fifth prize, beaten just half a length on the line.
Drawn nicely in gate three here, he maps to settle near mid-field with Ben Thompson retaining the ride for this assignment.
Fitter for that first-up hit-out, he is already a winner when second-up and stepping-up to the 1400m trip, should figure in the finish of this contest.
Race 6: No.10 Siesta
Tony Gollan saddles-up Siesta here who is high-flying after two starts back and looks well placed to give this event a real shake.
Last start, the Invader mare came off a first-up win in Class 1 company when she beat all but one home in a harder BM65 Hcp over 1350m at Doomben.
Leah Martyn pushed forward to lead on settling and set a good pace to the turn, then in the run home, ran stride for stride with race favourite Flaxlands but couldn’t hold on and had to settle for second prize on the day.
From gate nine, she maps to settle better than mid-field with Martyn steering the ship again and even fitter with those two runs under her belt, she sports the blinkers for the first time and should prove hard to keep out in this contest.
Race 8: No.2 Tiger Tie
Another from the Munce stable is Tiger Tie who is three starts into this campaign and now should be ready to strike in this event.
Last start, the Harry Angel gelding was third-up when he finished fourth in a Class 6 Plate over 1110m at Doomben.
Tahlia Fenlon took him straight to the lead where he set a blistering pace to the turn, then in the run home, couldn’t maintain the speed and eventually weakened out of it, taking home fourth prize in the end.
Dropping back to the 1000m trip here, he maps to be on the speed from barrier rise and after steering him to all six career wins to date, Fenlon remains in the saddle for this assignment.
Coming off a recent trial win at Doomben and at his peak here, the five-year-old should prove hard to beat and is well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
