Race 4: No.3 Berry Blast
The Simon Miller-trained galloper is in great touch this time in and looks set to bounce back in this event.
Last start, the Merchant Navy mare came off a good win on the main track here when she took on metro-class company and couldn’t match it with them, finishing unplaced in a One-Metro-Win Hcp over 1600m at Belmont.
Settling mid-field early, she held her ground, then in the run home was unable to match it with the rest, beaten 4.5 lengths on the line.
Back to the country scene here, she draws gate seven and maps to settle near mid-field with Jefferson Tsang as the new pilot and after the claim, the mare carries 3kgs less for this assignment.
Placed at her only start on this track previously, the four-year-old is at her peak now and should play a role in the outcome of this contest.
Race 5: No.3 Cosmic Waltz
The Steve Wolfe-trained galloper has returned in top-shelf form and third-up here, looks set to go on with it in this event.
Last start, the Cosmic Force gelding made it seven-straight podium finishes when he claimed third prize in a Three-Year-Old Hcp over 1200m at Belmont.
From a wide draw, he settled back in the field to the turn, then stormed home to grab the minor prize in a tight finish with Shaun McGruddy in the saddle.
Drawn wide again here, he maps to push forward and settle mid-field or better with McGruddy steering the ship again.
Placed at the track previously and placed when third-up as well, the four-year-old will strip even fitter here and looks a major player in this contest.
Race 8: No.9 Swansee
Neil Dellar saddles-up Swansee here who is in great form of late and looks a serious threat to victory in this event.
Last start, the Australian-sired mare made it four-straight top-three finishes when she beat all but one home in a Class 3 Hcp over 1100m at Bunbury.
From gate three, she settled third one off the fence without cover to the turn, then in the run home chased the leader all the way and did well to take home the silver medal in the race in a highly contested affair.
Meeting similar company here, she draws gate 10 and maps to push forward to settle in the first half dozen with Clint Johnston-Porter retaining the ride for this assignment.
Already a track and distance winner and at the top of her game now, the five-year-old looks the testing material in this contest.
