Race 4: No.3 Gorgeous
The David Pfieffer-trained galloper resumes today and after a winning recent trial, she looks in the mix for a first-up win in this event.
Last start, the So You Think filly made her racing debut and did it in style when she took out a set weights Maiden over 1150m on the Kensington track at Randwick.
Jason Collett settled her back in the field where she raced greenly to the turn, before running home strongly and did enough to get the result on the line.
The filly has had 12 weeks off the scene now and returned to work by winning a Warwick Farm trial and will fresh for this assignment.
Drawn nicely in gate three here, she maps to settle back in the field with Collett on board again and with a clear run home, she should prove hard to hold out in this contest.
Race 5: No.3 Dear My Friend
The Gary Portelli-trained galloper is second-up today and looks in the mix for a win in this event.
Last start, the So You Think gelding resumed of a lengthy 22-week break and wasn’t disgraced when finishing third in a Class 1 Hcp over 1100m at Wyong.
Settling mid-field early, Mitch Stapleford eased him off the fence near the turn before finishing off strongly out wide, arriving in time to grab the minor prize in the race.
Jumping from barrier eight today, he maps to settle back in the field with cover and has Stapleford in the saddle again.
Fitter for that first-up effort and already a winner when second-up, the three-year-old looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
Race 7: No.5 Ocean Chill
Team Archibald saddle-up Ocean Chill here who is high-flying after six career starts and third-up today, looks a genuine winning chance in this event.
Last start, the Ocean Park mare was second-up and impressed when she beat all but one home in a BM68 over 1350m at Wyong.
Mollie Fitzgerald had her box-seating on settling before crossing heels on straightening where she ran home well and held her ground but came across one better on the day, still doing well to take home the silver medal in the race.
Jumping from gate six here, she maps to push forward and settle in the first half-dozen with Fitzgerald retaining the ride for this assignment.
The stable fit the winkers for the first time and fitter for two runs back, the four-year-old looks a major player in this contest.
