Race 5: No.4 Beauty Show
The Frankie Lor-trained galloper has impressed with his first two race starts and now looks ready to win.
Last start, the Shalaa gelding came off his debut runner-up effort when he finished a close-up fourth in a Class 4 Hcp, here over 1000m.
Driven to the lead from barrier rise by Zac Purton, he was given no peace up front, under pressure to the turn, before holding the front in the run home until reaching the final 100m where he was swamped by the eventual placegetters, beaten just over a length on the line.
Tycoon Resources beat him home when on debut two starts back and while they clash again tonight, the three-year-old meets him better at the weights tonight.
From gate seven, he maps to settle on the speed again with Purton retaining the ride and fitter after those initial runs, he looks set to make it third time lucky in this contest.
Race 7: No.4 Power Of Vitam
The David Hall-trained galloper has been out of sorts at his past couple of runs but a change of surroundings here could see him return to the winner’s circle in this event.
Last start, the Proisir gelding blew the start and was last to leave the gates then burning early fuel he improved to settle mid-field on the fence and in the run home, held his ground well before running out of gas over the final 100m, finishing sixth, beaten only two lengths in the end.
The slow start over the 1400m trip was his enemy that day.
Drawn well in gate six tonight, he maps to settle near mid-field with James Orman backing-up for the ride.
Stepping out onto the Happy Valley track for the first time, he steps-up to the 1650m trip will should suit him better and with a clear run to the line, he can be there at the finish in this contest.
Race 9: No.9 Sight Hermoso
Unbeaten in two starts at the track, the John Size trained galloper steps-up in class tonight but still looks a winning chance in this event.
Last start, the Headwater gelding was ridden a treat by Hugh Bowman when he easily accounted for a Class 3 Hcp, here over 1200m.
Lumping top weight (60.5kgs), he settled better than mid-field on the fence and trailed the leaders to the turn before railing into the home straight where he took control and once on front, went on to score untroubled in the end, crossing the line 1.5 lengths clear of the 12-strong field, clocking an impressive 1:09.3 for the trip.
Facing Class 2 company tonight, he draws well in gate four and maps to settle in the first half-dozen and drops 7.5kgs (more than a stone on the old scale) from his last start win for this assignment.
Karis Teetan returns for his second ride on the four-year-old and with a trouble-free run here, the light weight sees him as a major player and looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
