Canterbury racing takes place on Friday, February 21, with a 7-race program set down for Canterbury racetrack.

The Scott Singleton-trained galloper is in great form currently and making her city debut tonight, looks a sneaky chance at bringing up the hat-trick in this event.

Last start, the Stratum Star mare went back-to-back when she took out a BM58 over 1150m on the Beaumont track at Newcastle.

Leaving the machine from the outside gate (8), regular rider Mitch Stapleford drove forward to have the mare settled second on the leader’s heels to the turn.

On straightening, she took the upper hand and strode to the lead where she held a comfortable margin, then held off a later challenge to take the gold medal in the race.

The four-year-old brings winning form to the city tonight and with a trouble-free run here, looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.

Race 5: No.4 Sting In The Tail

The Chris Waller-trained galloper is in great touch this time in and with plenty going for her here, she looks a genuine threat her rivals in this event.

Last start, the well-bred Savabeel mare came off a good win in BM64 company when she missed back-to-back glory by a whisker, beating all but one home in a similar company with both those efforts being over the 1900m trip on this track.

The four-year-old draws gate six here as she faces the similar company over the same track and distance with Nash Rawiller steering the ship for the first time.

From gate six, she maps to settle near mid-field with cover and scoring a little luck in the run home, she should prove hard to hold out in this contest.

Race 7: No.8 Joyner

Joe Pride saddles-up Joyner here who resumes after 11-weeks off the scene and looks a winning chance on fresh legs tonight.

The Denman mare finished on the podium in all four starts last campaign, finishing it off with a runner-up effort in a BM64 over 1400m on the Kensington track at Randwick.

She returned to work recently, winning a barrier trial at Warwick Farm.

Nicely drawn in gate four here, she maps to settle better than mid-field with cover and has Tyler Schiller as the new pilot.

Runner-up when resuming last campaign, she can sprint well when fresh and a winner at her only start here (two starts back), she can get the job done and salute in this contest.
