Who were the eyecatchers, who should you add to your black book for upcoming races and meetings and who do we recommended following in the weeks and months ahead?
Race 1: Two-Year-Old Hcp (1000m) – Unloading
The Brett Dodson-trained galloper was on debut on Saturday and turned plenty of heads when to finished best to collect the major prize.
Kyle Wilson-Taylor rode him a treat and had him box-seating on settling before scoring a rails run and after chasing home the leader (and favourite), grabbed the gold medal right on the post, impressing all at his first start.
The Spirit Of Boom youngster looks a promising type and looks capable of going on with it from here.
Race 3: BM85 Hcp (1600m) – Mr Buster
Fresh off a 14-week spell, the Ciaron Maher-trained galloper won first-up for the first time on Saturday when he out bobbed the race favourite (Last Command) to grab the win in this event.
Damien Thornton settled him last of the eight runners where he remained until the turn before crossing off heels and finishing best to grab the win right on the line.
Already a two-time winner when second-up, he can only improve further from here and it will pay to keep him safe for a few more runs.
Race 6: Three-Year-Old Hcp (1000m) – Vivika
The Matt Dunn-trained galloper resumed after more than seven months in the paddock and was impressive when she finished a close-up second on Saturday.
Andrew Mallyon had her settled mid-field one off the fence and in the run home, secured a run between horses and once clear, stormed home only to miss out by a whisker on the line.
The lightly-raced five-year-old has found the podium four times from her five starts to date and now fitter after one run back, looks well worth following from here on.
