Randwick racing takes place on Saturday, August 22 with a 10-race program set down for the Randwick racetrack.

Race 3: No.3 Le Troisir

The Chris Waller-trained galloper is in great touch of late and looks ideally placed here to claim another victory in this event.

Last start, the Proisir gelding came off an impressive win at Rosehill when he beat all but one home in a BM78, here over 2400m.

With Tommy Berry aboard, he drew wide and settled last early before pushing forward approaching the turn, then as the widest runner on straightening, he ran home strongly and came withing a neck of victory as they crossed the line.

Facing similar company here over the same trip, he gets the gun-run from gate one and maps to do no early work as he settles near mid-field with James McDonald as the new pilot.

In career-best form at the moment, the five-year-old can figure in this contest.

Race 5: No.2 The Budgiesmugla

The Bjorn Baker-trained galloper is high-flying this time in and ticks enough boxes to suggest he can bring up the hat-trick in this event.

Last start, the Redwood gelding made it back-to-back victories when he took out the Listed Caloundra Cup over 2400m at the Sunshine Coast.

Ridden upside down that day, he drew the outside gate (13) and settled back in the field and mid-race was spotting the leaders 12 lengths, before tracking wide on the turn, then he let loose and gathered them in, taking the lead and from there, held them all at bay to score an impressive win.

Facing his first Group 3 challenge here, he draws gate seven and maps to settle near mid-field with Dylan Gibbons sticking with him for this assignment.

Already a winner at the track and in such great form, he looks a serious contender for the major prize in this contest.

Race 10: No.1 Columbia Blue

The Joe Pride-trained galloper is in top-shelf form this preparation and with a little luck in running, can give this event a real shake.

Last start, the Yes Yes Yes gelding came off a win at Rosehill when he finished a close-up third in a BM78, here over 1200m.

Adam Hyeronimus settled him back in the field before scouting wide on the turn where he was held-up before finally seeing daylight and finished well to grab the minor prize, beaten just half a length on the line.

From gate 10, he maps to cross and settle near mid-field and after steering him to that win two starts back, Nash Rawiller returns for the ride in this assignment.

Fourth-up and at his peak here, he looms as a likely winner in this contest.
