Pakenham Racing Tips for July 20 – Bronte Beach the one to beat in Race 8

Pakenham racing takes place on Monday, July 20, with an eight-race program set down for Pakenham.

Here are our best bets from the meeting, which is one of four meetings from around Australia we are previewing in our daily tips.

Race 2 No.17- Mirador


Mirador should be hard to be at in Race 2 at Pakenham. The Godolphin galloper has had the three career starts and was runner-up at Flemington on debut over the 1000m back in January before heading to the paddock after failing in Group 3 company at Caulfield. The late season two-year-old resumed in a Saturday race at Caulfield recently and lost ground at the start before settling back on a very slow tempo. She made up bit of late ground to place 7th, beaten two lengths. Trial form heading into that run was promising and this is a decent class drop. 

Race 6 No.3- Claymore Mine


Claymore Mine looks set to improve back on the Synthetic on Monday. The five-year-old produced a string of encouraging performances earlier this preparation, including a close 5th in Benchmark 78 company at Flemington, before failing to fire on Soft and Heavy tracks at her past two starts. She made the switch to the Synthetic at the same stage of her previous campaign and won back-to-back races, while her recent benchmark figures have remained strong, particularly against the opposition she meets here. She has been well backed since markets opened and just needs a touch of luck early from the wide draw. Nadia Daniels claims 2kg and has produced a 50% profit on investment from her past 100 rides for the stable.

Race 8 No.2- Bronte Beach


Bronte Beach can finish the day on a winning note in Race 8. The four-year-old has placed at her past three starts, with the latest two coming on the Pakenham Synthetic. She was far from disgraced over 1600m last time, settling handy in a slowly run race that developed into a sit-and-sprint, leaving her with too much to do against the leader, who controlled the tempo throughout. She should now be at peak fitness after three runs this campaign and may be ridden with a little more patience from the wide barrier, with a more genuine tempo expected to suit her finishing burst.
