Last start the Demerit gelding showed improvement off his first-up effort when he beat all but home in a BM72, here over 1300m.
Brad Parnham was aboard that day and gave the gelding every chance as he found the front inside the final 200m but grabbed by a swooper right on the line.
Parnham sticks with him here as he jumps from gate seven (of eight) and maps to cross and settle near mid-field with cover.
Fitter for two runs back, he is a track specialist and unbeaten in two here over the 1400m as the stable remove the lugging bit for the first time.
His resume is glowing with ten career starts resulting in four wins and as many minor placings and with a clear run home, he should prove hard to beat I this contest.
Race 6: No.2 Hemlock Stone
The Team Williams-trained Hemlock Stone has been in good touch this time in and boasting a good track record here, has strong claims for victory in this event.
Last start, the French-sired gelding came off an unlucky fourth here when he drew the outside gate and did well to grab third prize in a BM66, here over 2100m
He settled back in the field and the job to run them down proved a little too big for him, beaten 1.5 lengths on the line.
This looks a little easier here as Clint Johnston-Porter remains on board for his eleventh ride on the five-year-old, having ridden him to three of his four career wins already.
He fares a little better with gate six here and maps to settle mid-field, one off the fence.
Already a three-time winner at the track, he is now five starts into this campaign and with a trouble-free run here, he looks a major contender for the big prize in this contest.
Race 7: No.5 Chantel
The Indianna Weinert-trained Chantel is high flying of late and ticks enough boxes here to suggest the hat-trick in on the cards in this event.
Last start, the God Has Spoken mare came off a good win in Class 3 company at Northam when she franked that effort by clobbering her rivals in another Class three, here over 1700m with Lucy Fiore in the saddle.
She sat out outside the leader to the 250m mark, then took over and raced away to win by almost three lengths on the line.
She drops 2kgs here and gets the gun-run from gate one with Fiore steering the ship again.
At her peak after four starts back, a clear run to the line should see her staking a strong claim for the honours here and is capable of giving this a real shake at odds.
Race 8: No.2 In Good Order
The Daniel Morton-trained In Good Order has come back in top-shelf form this time in and ticking all boxes here, looks the best of the day in this event.
Last start, the American Pharoah gelding was second-up where he went one better by storming home to grab victory on a 1-Metro-Win event, here over 1600m.
With Chris Parnham aboard for the third-straight time, he settled back on the field and in the run home, Parnham worked him into the race and after taking over inside the final 100m, he hung on to claim victory.
He does no early work from gate two and he maps to settle back in the field again and has Parnham steering the ship again.
Fitter for two runs back, he is already a track and distance winner and third-up here, should take a power of beating in this contest.
