Race 3: No.3 Gi Gi Pops
The Tim Crosby-trained galloper is second-up here and picking up where she left off last preparation, looks the testing material in this event.
Last start, the Justify filly resumed off a 16-week spell and just found the 1400m a little strenuous on fresh legs but still managed to finish third in the Class 3 Hcp at Bunbury.
Trying to lead all the way, she set solid pace and in the run home, the last 100m were telling as she weakened to take home the minor prize in the race.
Shaun Mc Gruddy returns here in an attempt to eclipse his victory on the filly two starts back and from gate seven, the three-year-old maps to jump and lead them on settling.
Already a second-up winner and has previous success at the track, she will beating in this contest.
Race 4: No.7 Summer’s Legacy
Team Williams saddles-up Summer’s Legacy here who has found the podium in four of her five starts this preparation and looks set to continue on the same path in this event.
Last start, the Bondi filly came off a big maiden win over 2000m at Pinjarra when she dropped back in trip and finished just behind the placegetters over 1400m at Ascot.
Lucy Fiore was the pilot that day and after settling back in the field, gave the 12-strong field too much start in the 1400m event where she ran home strongly to claim fourth prize.
Back up in trip here, she draws the outside gate (9) but will settle back in the field as William Pike returns for his fourth ride on the filly.
She should find this Class 1 Hcp easier and will appreciate the extra distance on offer here.
Provided she keeps in touch to the turn, she can finish over the top of them in this contest.
Race 7: No.2 Starring Knight
The Team Pearce-trained Starring Knight is in great touch of late and ticking all the important boxes here, looks right in the mix for victory in this event.
Last start, the Shooting To Win gelding drew wide (9 of 9) and wasn’t disgraced when finishing third in a BM70 over 1413m at Geraldton.
After working hard early to cross and settle second in the race, she ran out of steam in the final 100m and had to settle for the minor prize that day.
Drawn much better here in gate six, she maps to settle better than mid-field with cover this time as she welcomes back Chris Parnham who has steered her to six of her nine victories to date.
Five starts in now, she will be at her peak for this and a clear run to the line should see her fighting out the finish in this contest.
