Taree racing takes place on Tuesday, July 21 with a 7-race program set down for the Taree racetrack.

We have the best bets picked from across the meeting with a Best Bet and other value selections for  Taree racetrack.

Race 1: No.6  Autafinna

The Patrick Cleave-trained galloper has his second race start today and looks well placed to go one better in this event.

Last start, the son of The Autumn Sun made his racing debut and impressed when he beat all but one home in a Class 1/Maiden Plate, here over 1600m.

On a Heavy 10 that day, Mikayla Weir settled him fourth on the fence to the turn before coming off heels and in the run home, chased strongly to finish second, beaten half a length on the line, doing his best work over the final 50 metres.

Fitter for that debut effort, the step-up to the 2018m here looks ideal for him at this stage where he gets the gun-run from gate one and has Weir sticking with him.

Meeting similar company today and proven in the wet, he looks the one to beat in this contest.

Race 3: No.4  Darn Deadly

Paul Snowden saddles-up Darn Deadly here who is third-up and ticks enough boxes to suggest she can figure in the finish of this event.

Last start, the Too Darn Hot mare showed plenty of improvement second-up when she finished third in a Class 2 Hcp, here over 1412m.

Ben Looker had the reins and on a Heavy 10, the mare settled mid-field to the turn and as the field shifted out, she railed like a greyhound to enter the race for the big prize but had to settle for the minor money that day.

Even fitter for those two runs back, she jumps from gate six and maps to cross and settle mid-field or better with Looker in the saddle again.

The stable remove the winkers today and slip the nose roll on for this assignment and with a trouble-free run, the four-year-old can give this contest a real shake.

Race 7: No.5  Dirty Does It

The Robert Agnew-trained galloper is two starts into this campaign and looks ideally placed to collect the cash in this event.

Last start, the Irish-sired gelding was second-up when he finished fifth in a BM58 over 1000m at Muswellbrook.

Peter Graham settled him near the tail of the field to the turn where he stuck to the fence and on straightening, spotted them too much start and in the slower going, battled on gamely to the line, beaten 4.5 lengths in the end.

Fitter for those two runs back, he gets all the favours from gate one today and maps to settle mid-field on the fence with Graham in control again.

Finishing runner-up in both starts at the track and distance to date and boasting a strong record on wet tracks, the three-year-old looks the testing material in this contest.
