Sale racing takes place on Thursday, July 9, with an eight-race program set down for Sale.

Here are our best bets from the meeting, which also feature in our daily selections.

Race 2 No.6- Master Taj


Master Taj is set to break through when he lines up in Race 2. The Gavin Bedggood-trained galloper has placed in all three starts to date and has been luckless in a couple of those. He was wide no cover at Geelong two starts back when 3rd behind Immortal Triumph before heading to Seymour and copping some interference with 100m to go when filling the exacta behind Posh Chant. The son of De Gaulle went 2.4 lengths slower than standard benchmark last time, which is the best last start figure of any runner. He should be at peak fitness now and will land in a perfect spot from the draw, while he has performed in Soft conditions so far. 

Race 3 No.5- Jimmy Beans


Jimmy Beans can get the job done in Race 3. The three-year-old has finished runner-up in all of his three outings to date and resumed on a Heavy 10 at Wangaratta over the 1300m, racing three wide without cover throughout and sticking on well before missing out in a head-bobber behind Sparkles. The 3rd horse home out of that has since picked up his Maiden at Wodonga. Jimmy Beans 2.5 lengths slower than standard, which is seven lengths better than the next best last start figures of any runner. He will appreciate the step up to the 1429m and will box seat from the barrier, while the Heavy track will not be a problem. 

Race 7 No.3- Lofty Thoughts


Going with Lofty Thoughts in Race 7. The promising galloper resumed at Murray Bridge in a recent Saturday metropolitan race at the venue and settled last after drawing widest of the 13 runners before producing a real eye catcher, flashing home late to just miss out. The Alex Rae-trained galloper went a lengths faster than standard benchmark and while he didnt fire at his second up run at his last prep, that came in much harder company than this at Caulfield when he worked hard early on before fading. This grade is right in his wheelhouse and he will tuck into a midfield spot before rounding them up late in the piece.
