Sandown Racing Tips for July 8 – Tennessee Bound to make it five from five

Sandown racing takes place on Wednesday, July 8, with an eight-race program set down for Sandown.

Here are our best bets from the meeting, which is one of the key midweek meetings from around Australia that feature in our daily tips.

Race 4 No.1- Castle On High


Castle On High shapes as an each-way player in Race 4. The lightly raced five-year-old has one run under the belt at his current preparation, drawing wide and settling back on a strong tempo on a Heavy track at Flemington before closing off well for 6th. The Cliff Brown-trained galloper went 11 lengths faster than standard benchmark, which is the best last start figure of any runner in this race. He will settle closer this time around from barrier 4 and was an eight length improver on figures when second up at his last preparation, scoring over the 1400m on the Hillside circuit. Luke Cartwright rides and claims the 1.5kg. He has provided a 35% profit on investment when combining with the stable.

Race 5 No.11- Tan Tat Delight


Race 7 sets up well for Tan Tat Delight. The Chris Waller galloper just needs to find a midfield spot with cover early on from barrier 9 and was doing his best work late last time when closing off with the fastest last 200m to place 4th at Sandown Hillside behind Brilliant Horizon in a BenchMark 70. The daughter of Russian Revolution went six lengths faster than standard benchmark in that race, which is more than eight lengths better than the next best last start figures of any runner. She will enjoy the conditions and the rise to the 1400m suits, while she should be right near her peak at her third run back. 

Race 6 No.2- Faraway Dream


Faraway Dream is another that represents each-way value at Sandown on Wednesday. The Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young-trained galloper has won two of four and returned with a 5th placing at Caulfield in BenchMark 74 company over the 1000m on June 17. She was trapped wide no cover throughout but stuck on to go more than four lengths faster than standard benchmark. The daughter of Farnan draws wide again but early speed looks hot here and she can slot into a nice spot with cover, while this looks easier. 

Race 7 No.1- Tennessee Bound


Tennessee Bound is set to remain unbeaten. The Ciaron Maher-trained mare has made the perfect start to her career with four wins from as many starts and was dominant when resuming over 1000m on the Caulfield Heath three weeks ago, settling handy before putting her rivals away in the straight to record a comfortable two-length win.Second-up in her debut preparation, the daughter of Written Tycoon improved more than seven lengths on benchmark figures, progressing from a Kyneton maiden win over 1100m to a five-length victory in Benchmark 62 company at Cranbourne over 1200m. She can box-seat from barrier 3 before pushing the button in the straight and proving very hard to get past.
