Race 5: No.3 Prince Harrison
The Team Conners-trained galloper is three starts into this preparation and now looks ready to win.
Last start, the Australian-bred gelding came off back-to-back minor placings when he finished unplaced in a BM64 over 1200m at Gosford.
Settling mid-field early, he held his ground to the turn then on straightening, had a wall of horses in front of him and was never clear in time to mount a challenge, but still ran home strongly over the final 100m to finish sixth, 2.5 lengths from the winner.
Deanne Panya is legged aboard for her seventh ride on the five-year-old, having already steered him to three podium finishes.
From gate six, he maps to settle near the speed as he takes on Class 3 company today and with a clear run here, the Santos gelding can figure in the finish of this contest.
Race 6: No.5 Dark Justice
The Kris Lees-trained galloper has shown improvement after three starts back and looks set to ring-up his second career win in this event.
Last start, the Justify gelding improved enough to grab third prize in a BM58 over 1450m at Muswellbrook.
Aaron Bullock settled him mid-field to the turn before straightening as the widest runner then chased the two leaders all the way home but was unable to bridge the gap, taking home the minor prize in the race.
Facing Class 1 company at set weights today, he draws well in gate five where speed maps have him settling in the back half of the field with Bullock in charge again.
Fourth-up and at his peak, the step-up to the 1750m trip looks ideal for him now and with a clear run to the line, he should prove hard to hold out in this contest.
Race 8: No.7 Turbulent
Michael Mulholland saddles-up Turbulent here who is in great touch this preparation and looks on target for back-to-back success in this event.
Last start, the Russian Revolution gelding chalked-up his second win for this campaign when he took out a BM66 over 1300m at Narromine.
On a Heavy 10 that day, he drew the fence but missed the jump and settled last, eight lengths off the speed before working into the race nearing the turn, then headed to the outside fence (for better ground) and found it before storming home to win with a leg in the air, putting almost three lengths on them over the line.
Meeting similar company here, he gets the gun-run from gate one again and will do no early work as he maps to settle in the back half of the field with Jacob Stiff returning for his second ride on the five-year-old.
At his peak after four runs back, he looks the testing material in this contest.
