Racing was at Flemington on Saturday, July 4, with a quality nine-race program headlined by the Creswick Stakes and Winter Championship Final.

Here are our blackbookers and horses to follow from the action.

🥇 Stars Of Dom (1st)

Race 1 - Next Generation Sprinters Series Final, 2yo (1200m)

Stars Of Dom – The Lindsay Park-trained filly looks to have a bright future after breaking through impressively at her third start in the Next Generation Sprinters Series Final at Flemington. She travelled strongly before letting down with an impressive turn of foot to score over 1200m, with both trainer Will Hayes and jockey Craig Williams suggesting she's only scratching the surface. Still learning her craft after being raw in her early trials, she appears to have matured rapidly and shapes as a filly capable of stepping through the grades. Her strongest work was through the line and there's confidence she'll eventually appreciate further than sprint trips, making her one to follow into her three-year-old campaign.

🥈 Prince Tycoon (2nd) & 🥉 Chains Of Love (3rd)

Race 8 - Creswick Stakes, Listed, 3yo (1200m)

Prince Tycoon set a strong tempo in front and looked the winner until the closing stages, but made a couple of costly errors late before holding on for second. Near the 150m he shifted out, forcing rider John Allen to straighten him, and continued to lay out for the remainder of the race. Considering those mistakes came in a high-quality three-year-old Listed contest won by Wise Inlaw, the performance still had plenty of merit and he looks capable of measuring up again in similar or slightly easier company.

Chains Of Love had little luck after beginning awkwardly and conceding around two lengths at the start. The well-supported Sydney visitor was forced to make up ground throughout before charging home with the fastest final 200m of the race. Given the poor start in one of the strongest races on the Flemington program, she can be forgiven and is worth sticking with.

🥇 Clevor Trever (1st) & 🥈 Flying Khan (2nd)

Race 9 - Silver Bowl Series Final, 3yo (1600m)

Clevor Trever – Patrick Payne's progressive colt made it five straight wins with an authoritative victory in the Silver Bowl Series Final, overcoming topweight (60kg) and a wide draw to score with plenty in hand. Settled perfectly by Billy Egan, he cruised past his rivals late, suggesting there's more to come. Still on the rise and looks capable of measuring up in stronger company.

Flying Khan was a bit of an eye-catcher, filling the exacta at the $41. Stepping up from a Donald Maiden win when resuming, the Andrew Bobbin galloper settled back in the field of 12 and kept coming with the fastest last 200m to go down by a length. He will strip fitter at his next start and is likely to be allocated a light weight.
