Seymour racing takes place on Thursday, August 27, with a competitive country meeting set down for Seymour.

Here are our best bets from the meeting, which also feature in our daily selections.

Race 1 No.5- Keen Observer

Keen Observer looks set to break through in the opener. The Busuttin/Young galloper has finished runner-up in both career starts, narrowly missing behind Royal Vanguard on a Heavy 10 over 1017m at Moe on debut before having to work across from a wide barrier at Geelong last time, where he was run down late by Greenwich Boy. The form around both runs has held up well, with the 3rd horse from Moe winning at its next start, while Keen Observer put a decent margin on the 3rd-placed runner at Geelong. The son of Ole Kirk draws the inside this time around, which should allow him to enjoy a more conservative run in transit, and he has already shown he handles the going.

Race 6 No.9- Castellito

Castellito can go on with the job in Race 6. The four-year-old has won two of her four career starts and resumed in good style over the 1100m on Soft ground at Seymour on August 7. She settled back in the field and copped a squeeze around the 600m before producing the fastest closing sectionals of the race to run them down. She should take improvement from that first-up effort and her two runs on Soft or worse have been full of merit, with that victory coming after she finished 5th on debut in a Saturday race at Caulfield last year. The daughter of Deep Field may be able to settle a fraction closer this time around, while the slight rise to 1200m looks ideal.

Race 8 No.2- Hotel Senshi

This looks a suitable assignment for Hotel Senshi. The Luke Oliver-trained gelding has finished in the top two in three of his four career starts and narrowly missed on Heavy ground when resuming at Bendigo before stepping up to Saturday grade at Caulfield last time, where he finished 7th behind Lauberhorn. He was slowly away and had to make up ground mid-race before sticking on well, recording a figure more than seven lengths faster than standard benchmark. That is six lengths superior to the next-best last-start figure of any runner here and better than anything his rivals have produced across their careers. With a return to this level, expect him to be hard to hold out at the business end.
