Race 2: No.8 Sunday Tycoon
The Clarry Connors-trained galloper is third-up today and looks every chance of going back-to-back in this contest.
Last start, the Winning Rupert gelding improved greatly off his first-up run when he easily accounted for a BM64 Hcp, here over 1000m.
Keagan Latham settled him mid-field early before securing a rails run then on straightening, took control and went on with it to cross the line more than a length clear in the end.
Meeting BM68 company here, he draws wide in gate nine but maps to cross and settle better than mid-field with Latham in control again.
Already a two-time winner on wet tracks, the conditions are ideal for him here and with a trouble-free run here, he looks the testing material in this contest.
Race 3: No.4 Dance With Destiny
The John Sargent-trained galloper has improved with recent racing and looks well placed here to go one better in this event.
Last start, the Contributer filly put in her best effort this time in when she beat all but one home in a Class 1/Maiden Plate over 2200m at Newcastle.
In the driving rain, on a Heavy 8 that day, Mikayla Weir had her box-seating to the turn, before coming off heels and joining in soon after and looked the winner half way home but was run down by one better on the day, beaten a length on the line.
Facing just maiden class opposition here, she draws ideally in gate two and maps to settle just behind the speed again with Dylan Gibbons as the new pilot.
The stable remove the blinkers for this assignment and with wet conditions forecast again, the three-year-old looks in the mix to break through in this contest.
Race 7: No.2 Matima
Warwick Farm trainer Gary Portelli saddles-up Matima here who is second-up and well placed to give this event a real shake at odds today.
Last start, the Lonhro gelding resumed off a 12-week spell and in need of the run, finished fifth in a Class 1 Hcp over 1100m at Hawkesbury.
Tyler Schiller settled him last from barrier rise and on a Heavy 8 that day, was never a winning chance from there while lumping 62kgs but did manage to pass a couple in the run home.
Jumping from gate 10 here, he maps to cross and settle near mid-field with Schiller in the saddle once more.
Fitter for that first-up run and placed in three of his four wet-track appearances to date, the longer trip looks ideal for him now and looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
