Race 1: No.5 Cool Drinks
The James Healy-trained galloper is second-up here and after a successful return to the track, looks set to go back-to-back in this event.
Last start, the New Zealand-bred gelding resumed off a 29-week absence and having his first start for a new stable, impressed connections when he clobbered his rivals in a 1600m Maiden Hcp at the Sunshine Coast.
On a Heavy 10, he was first away, eventually settling second in the run before taking over soon after straightening and in the run home, proved far too strong in the end, putting more than two lengths on the runner-up, with a further five lengths back to the bronze medal winner.
Stepping-up to BM60 company here, he jumps from gate six where he maps to cross and be box-seating on settling with Michael Rodd remaining aboard for this assignment.
Fitter for that first-up win, the three-year-old looks in the mix to score again in this contest.
Race 8: No.5 Enchaanted
Team Munce saddle-up Enchaanted here who is high-flying after three runs back and looks up to taking on this grade.
Last start, after two minor placings, the Exceedance filly made it third time lucky when she broke through for her first career win, taking out a Fillies Maiden Plate over 1200m at Kilcoy.
From gate one, Archie McColm had her settled second on the fence before taking over on the turn, then running home the strongest, took the chequered flag, along with the winner’s cheque for the event.
From gate seven, she maps to push forward and settle near the speed again with Tahlia Fenlon taking the reins for the first time.
Yet to miss the podium this preparation, the three-year-old looks primed to going on with it in this contest.
Race 9: No.5 Ardie Three
The Jack Bruce-trained galloper has impressed at his first two starts to date and looks ideally placed to keep the engine running in this event.
Last start, the Ardrossan gelding came off a debut Maiden win at the Sunshine Coast when he stepped-up to Class 1 competition and did well to beat all but one home, here over the 1200m trip.
Unable to go the early speed, he settled back in the field, taking a trail with Emily Lang aboard before taking the home turn via the cape, then in the run home, had the measure of those in front of him but was run down by one coming from behind, leaving him with the silver medal for the race.
Ideally drawn in gate two here, he maps to settle mid-field or better with Lang retaining the ride and third-up, he will strip fitter and should be a real force in this contest.
