Flemington Racing Tips for July 4 – Best bets for an action-packed Finals Day at Flemington

Flemington racing takes place on Saturday, July 4, with a nine-race program set down for Flemington Finals Race Day.

Here are our best bets from the meeting, which is one of the major metropolitan meetings that we cover in our Saturday tips.

Race 2 No.3- Star Of Macedon


Keen on Star Of Macedon in the Taj Rossi Series Final (1600m). The John Symons & Shelia Laxon-trained galloper comes out of the meeting at Flemington on June 20 and was 3rd behind Fontein Jewel over the 1420m. He drew wide and was snagged back early to find cover then was held up from the 300m to the 100m before running on. The son of Zoustar meets the winner 4.5kg better at the weights and gives the impression that the step up to the mile will be right up his alley. 

Race 3 No.6- Stylish


No reason to suggest why Stylish can’t make it back to back wins when she lines up in the Leilani Series Final. The Hayes mare was just as her name suggests when second up at the June 20 meeting here, stalking the leading pair before proving to be too good for the likes of Miss Aria and Duchess Zou. She comes into this third up and was an improver on benchmark figures at this stage of her last preparation when scoring at Sandown. The daughter of Lonhro is yet to finish out of the placings in five starts at Flemington, winning two, and can tuck into a midfield spot from the barrier. 

Race 5 No.1- Losesomewinmore


Losesomewinmore can bounce back in Race 5. The Adelaide galloper has a great straight track record and was super impressive over the 1200m two starts ago when going more than 13 lengths faster than standard to score from De Bergerac before that horse turned the tables over the 1100m last time when Losesomewinmore just had the race shape go against him. But back over the 1200m and fourth up, the Richard & Chantelle-trained galloper ticks alot of boxes. His best figure at his last preparation came at this stage when scoring down the straight and he will be reunited by Craig Williams, who strikes at 27% when combining with the stable, providing a 71% profit on investment. 

Race 8 No.7- Falset Star


Falset Star shapes as an each-way player in the Creswick Stakes. The Patrick Payne-trained galloper resumed over the 1200m here last month and placed 4th behind Barari. He meets that horse again, as well as the runner-up, Wise Inlaw, but went for a run on the inferior going that day but still closed off well to land just over a length off them. He was a seven length improver when second up at his last campaign and draws perfectly in a midfield position here. Look for him to be closing off strongly.
