Race 1: No.6 Thundering Falcon
The Robert Knight-trained galloper has improved with each run this time in and fourth-up here, looks in the mix for a podium finish in this event.
Last start, the well-bred gelding showed he was back to his best when he took out a Class 1/Maiden over 2245m at Grafton.
He settled mid-field early before creeping closer on the turn, then straightened as the widest runner then hands and heels, finished too strong for them in the end.
Drawn nicely in gate six, he maps to cross and settle mid-field or better with Nick Palmer as the new pilot.
The four-year-old is bred to stay, sired by Melbourne Cup winner Fiorente and at his peak here, looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
Race 7: No.5 Oakfield Utah
Scott Singleton saddles-up Oakfield Utah here who returns to country racing and third-up today, looks the one to beat in this contest.
Last start, the Headwater gelding failed to handle the class rise when he finished down the track in a Class 3 Highway Plate over 1500m at Rosehill.
On a Heavy 9 that day, Jay Ford settled him outside the leader to the turn, then in the run home, had nothing left to offer and weakened out of contention in the end.
Back to non-metro racing here, he faces a much easier task against BM58 opposition and drops back to the 1200m trip where he is already a winner.
Drawn wide in gate 11, he maps to push forward and cross to settle better than mid-field with Aaron Bullock back on board, having already steered the gelding to both career wins to date.
Fitter for two runs back and already a winner here, he looks the testing material in this contest.
Race 8: No.3 Not Written Off
Third-up here, the Cameron Crockett-trained galloper ticks enough boxes to suggest she can play a major role in the outcome of this event.
Last start, the Written By mare stepped-up sharply in grade and finished mid-field in a BM82 Hcp over 1100m at Scone.
Settling second, on the fence, the mare stuck with the race leader to the turn, then in the run home, never stopped chasing and was gallant in defeat, finishing fifth, beaten three lengths in the end.
Down in grade here, she faces BM74 company and nicely drawn in gate three, maps to settle just behind the speed with Liberty Smyth as the new pilot.
Down in grade today, she boasts a strong third-up record and already a winner at the track and trip, she looks hard to hold out in this contest.
