Race 3: No.9 Pearl Of Dubai
The Peter Snowden-trained galloper has been knocking on the door for a win and gets her chance today in this event.
Last start, the Wootton Bassett filly made it two-straight runner-up finishes when she beat all but one home in a Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate over 1200m at Wyong.
Sent out a $1.80 favourite, she was beaten 3.5 lengths on the line where the winner clocked 1:10.6 for the trip on a Soft 6 that day in a 12-strong field.
Now proven in wet conditions, she gets the gun-run from gate one today and maps to settle just behind the speed with Andrew Adkins returning for the ride after steering her into second place at Canberra two starts back.
At her peak after three runs this preparation, she drops back to 1100m today and with a trouble-free run, looks the testing material in this contest.
Race 5: No.9 Percolate
Jason Deamer saddles-up Percolate here who impressed when first-up and looks well placed here to go on with it in this event.
Last start, the Zoustar filly made light work of the conditions when she broke through for her first win by taking out a Maiden Hcp over 1305m at Tuncurry.
From gate 10 (of 11), Luke Rolls had her up front on settling where she set a fair pace and on a Heavy 8 that day, led from barrier to box, crossing the line more than a length clear in the end.
Stepping-up to Class 1 competition today, she gets all the favours from gate one where she maps to be leading the way again with Regan Bayliss aboard for the first time.
If the three-year-old if left alone and dictates the race, she should prove hard to run down in this contest.
Race 8: No.7 Call Me Sassy
The David Pfieffer-trained galloper is yet to miss a podium finish in six career starts to date and third-up today looks set to keep that record intact.
Last start, the Zoustar mare took home the silver medal again when she beat all but one home in a Class 1 Hcp over 1250m at Newcastle.
From gate nine (of 12), Kerrin McEvoy had her settled mid-field and wide without cover to the turn before looming-up to take the lead soon after but lost out in a two-horse battle, beaten (half a length) by one better on the day.
Drawn wide again in gate 10, she maps to cross and settle better than mid-field with McEvoy retaining the ride and fitter for two runs back, the four-year-old looks set to relish the going and should be there at the finish of this contest.
