Seymour Racing Tips for May 21 – Geeseven to make it back to back wins in final race of the day

Seymour racing takes place on Thursday, May 21, with an eight-race program set down for Seymour.

Here are our best bets from the meeting, which also features in wider preview of racing from around Australia on Thursday.

Race 6 No.3- Cavern


Cavern can go close in Race 6. The Team Hayes galloper in the Godolphin colours draws wide and will need luck early on but does have good early speed and if he can cross over early on without burning too much fuel, he is a great chance of chalking up the second win of his career. The son of Brazen Beau resumed at Sale recently and was a bit keen early on when settling handy before just going down late in the piece behind Sweet Jasmine, going 1.5 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is the best last start figures of any runner in the race. He improved more than 12 lengths at the second run of his debut prep when going from a Bendigo Maiden win to a 4th behind Mr Magnus at the Caulfield Carnival on Soft track in October and is set to get those conditions again. 

Race 7 No.2- Impending Shadow


This looks to be a suitable assignment for Impending Shadow. The six-year-old has had the two runs this time in, and wasnt quite ready when last at Echuca over the unsuitable 1000m trip before a fair run in harder company than this at Caulfield over the 1400m last time, placing 7th behind Gold Coast Belle, going down four lengths. She worked into it from the 800m to the 200m before just fading late on her run. This is easier and she will strip fitter, while she has solid form on wet tracks. Expect her to be challenging them late in the piece. 

Race 8 No.2- Geeseven


Geeseven can make it back to back wins when he steps out in the final race of the day. The Grahame Begg-trained galloper has had the three starts for a couple of runner-ups to kick off his career before scoring on the Soft at Pakenham at his most recent outing. That came over the 1400m and he was back in the small field on a strong tempo before wearing them down. This isn’t a huge step up in class and the son of Bivouac is likely to thrive in the conditions, while he should be nearing his peak at the third run of his current prep.
