Race 4: No.13 Wounder
The Chris Waller-trained galloper has been consistent throughout this preparation and looks a genuine winning chance in this event.
Last start, the Contributor mare made it three-straight podium finishes when she took home third prize in a BM65 over 2000m at Ipswich.
Emily Lang settled her mid-field to the turn, then coming down the centre of the track, she finished strongly to figure in a three-way go to the line and picked up the minor prize, beaten less than half a length on the post.
Nicely drawn in gate three here, she maps to settle better than mid-field with Ben Thompson as the new pilot.
Racing consistently this time in, the mare won her only start at this track (three runs back) and at the weights here, she looks in the mix for a win in this contest.
Race 5: No.2 Abraham
Nick Keal saddles-up Abraham here who has found his mojo this campaign and looks well placed to go on with it in this event.
Last start, the Dubious gelding was fourth-up when he took out a Class 2 Hcp over 1625m at Toowoomba.
Ridden a treat by Kelsey Lenton, he settled mid-field on the fence to the turn where those in front of him all drifted wide, presenting him with a dream rails-run and in the run home, he took control inside the final 200m and raced away to score by more than two lengths on the line.
Meeting similar company here over a similar trip, that’s good form coming into this Class 2 affair where he draws gate five and maps to settle mid-field or better with Jag Guthmann-Chester back for his fourth ride on the gelding.
At his peak here and already a winner at the track and trip, he looks the one to beat in this contest.
Race 6: No.10 Earthing
The Stirling Osland-trained galloper is high-flying after three runs back and looks well placed here to make his track debut a winning one in this event.
Last start, the Snitzel gelding came off his maiden win at Pakenham and stepped-up in grade where he impressed by beating all but one home in a BM62 Hcp over 1400m at Sale.
Slowly away, he used up a lot of gas early as he pushed forward an was trapped four wide for the first 400m before settling second alongside the leader. Then in the run home, grabbed the lead and looked set to score but was grabbed right on the post by a swooper, leaving him with second prize in the race.
Having his first run for the Osland stable here, he draws ideally in gate two and maps to be box-seating on settling with Daniel Moor in the saddle for this assignment.
Wearing the tongue tie for the first time, the four-year-old is in great shape here and looks more than capable of upstaging his rivals in this contest.
