Given little support by punters ($21), Olivia Kendall settled her just behind the speed early but lost her spot during transit and was sitting worse than mid-field nearing the turn before securing a rails-run and from there, ran on strongly but the lack of race fitness told over the final 100m, finishing behind the first four across the line.

The mile trip was a little short for her as she produces her best beyond the 2000m trip.

Fitter for that first-up run, keep an eye out for her over further ground from here on.

The Stuart Kendrick-trained mare resumed on Saturday after six months in the paddock and impressed with a win on fresh legs.

Ridden a treat by Ryan Houston, she settled two pairs back and trailed the leaders into the homes straight where she came off their heels and finished best down the centre of the track to grab the big prize on the line.

Her resume boasts a very strong record when fresh with wins first, second and third-up so it should pay to stick with her for a few more yet.

The Matt Dunn-trained gelding was fresh off an 11-week spell on Saturday and caught the eye where he beat all but one home in this event.

Unwanted in the market ($21), he was slowly away but recovered to settle mid-field to the turn, then on straightening, threaded his way through traffic to secure clean air and inside the final 200m, took control but was grabbed (in turn) by one a lot fitter, leaving him a gallant second in the race.

Fitter for that run, he does his best work over further ground and is well worth following this preparation.
