Cranbourne Racing Tips for April 17 – Temu Tilly to offer plenty in Race 4
- Boa Vista is primed for a strong showing in Race 2 after an impressive performance at Geelong.
- Playful As is set for success in Race 3, improving with each start, and ready to peak.
- Temu Tilly is a standout in Race 4, showcasing superior last start benchmark figures.
Cranbourne racing takes place on Friday, April 17, with a program set down for Cranbourne.
Here are our best bets from the meeting, which is the second of a double header in Victoria on Friday.
Race 2 No.8- Boa Vista
Boa Vista can go close in Race 2. The Price/Kent Jnr galloper has placed in two of four career starts and resumed with a 3rd at Geelong on April 1 behind Pasadena. She was a fraction slow out of the blocks before working up to sit outside the leader and just running out of steam late in the piece. She will strip fitter for this and at her debut prep she went from a 7th in a Sandown Maiden to a runner-up in Listed grade when second up in the Dequettville Stakes (1000m) at Morphettville. The daugther of Snitzel trialled well at her home track prior to her Geelong run and just needs to find a spot early on from the wide barrier to be a big factor here.
Race 3 No.11- Playful As
Keen on Playful As in Race 3 of the evening at Cranbourne. The Team Hayes galloper has had the two career starts and came in to her debut with some strong trial form but did a stack wrong at Kyneton when 8th before showing improvement at Kilmore at her second start, sticking on for 3rd over the 1207m, going 3.6 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is the best last start figure of any runner in this race. She was handy on a hot tempo and the three around her on the speed floundered badly but she was able to grind it out. Tempo shouldn't be as hot in this race and the daughter of Astern can box seat from barrier 2, while she should be nearing her peak after two runs.
Race 4 No.10- Temu Tilly
Going with Temu Tilly in Race 4 after a last start effort that saw her finish runner-up at Yarra Valley. She tackled the 1500m and settled handy but was no match for the winner, Wonboyn, but kept the likes of Share The Stars at bay with that horse coming out and winning at Werribee by nearly four lengths at its next start. The Matt Laurie-trained galloper went four lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is seven lengths better than the next best last start benchmark figures of any runner in this race and the best that any horse has produced. She gives the impression that the 1600m will suit at her fourth start and the 3kg claim for Nadia Daniels will come in handy. The apprentice hoop rode her last time and has had recent success with the stable.
