The locally-trained galloper was third-up and off a five-week freshen-up when he finished a gallant second in this this event.

He jumped from the outside gate (11) and while settling in third place, he was never closer than four horses from the fence and had no cover as well.

In the run home, he kept finding plenty and after taking the lead briefly, he was grabbed (in turn) by one carrying less weight and enjoying a better run in transit.

That was just his eighth career start and with two wins already under his belt, he has better days to come in this preparation.

Another locally-trained galloper was second-up on Saturday and from barrier eight (of nine) was slowly away and settled back with the tail-enders before improving to be mid-field on the turn, then in the run home, he finished down the centre of the track and took ground off the placegetters to finish just a tick over a length behind them on the line.

It was an eye-catching effort by the four-year-old who will only improve further from that outing so stick with him for now.

While the win by Let’sfacethemusic was impressive, the performance from the Team Munce-trained galloper stood out as well when he finished a gallant third in the event.

Fresh after 17 weeks off the scene, he lined-up in Listed company and from the outside gate (12), Martin Harley had him settled near mid-field but three-deep without cover to the turn, then looking for clean air, he was held-up before ducking back inside where he finally secured a run and stormed home to grab the minor prize in a mighty effort.

Gallant in defeat, he conceded 6kgs to the first two past the post and was beaten less than two lengths in the end which is a highly commendable effort.
