The Holly Williams-trained galloper has improved with recent racing and looks well placed in this company to claim the winner’s cheque in this event.
Last start, the Farnan gelding put in his best effort this campaign when he beat all but one home in a Class 1/Maiden Plate, here over 1600m.
Rory Hutchings settled him mid-field but found himself also trapped three-wide without cover to the turn where he fanned even wider, then in the run home he found the front inside the final 100m and looked the winner but was grabbed by a swooper right on the post, leaving him an unlucky second in the race.
Facing BM58 company here, he jumps from gate six and maps to settle mid-field with cover and is joined by Donovan Dillion who has his first ride on the gelding.
Four runs back and now at his peak, the four-year-old looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
Race 6: No.4 Kaihoko
Colt Prosser saddles-up Kaihoko here who is second-up and with a drop in weight today, looks in the mix for this event.
Last start, the Dundeel gelding resumed after four months off the scene and wasn’t disgraced when finishing fifth in a BM74 over 1200m at Tuncurry.
After drawing gate 11 (of 12) and carrying 60kgs on fresh legs, Ben Looker settled him second last the field before weaving through traffic on the turn, then in the run home, ran on strongly, passing half the field on his way to the line, beaten just 2.5 lengths in the end.
An impressive return to the track and here, he draws much better in gate four and maps to settle near mid-field with cover and after riding him to victory once previously, Zac Wadick returns to take the reins for this assignment.
Already a two-time winner when second-up and down 4kgs from that first-up run, he looks a genuine winning chance in this contest.
Race 7: No.2 Zampano
The Melissa Dennett-trained galloper is also second-up today and ticks all the boxes that suggest he is the pick of the crop in this event.
Last start, the Tassort gelding resume off a 19-week spell and did well in the end when finishing fifth (of 13) in a Class 3 Hcp over the 950m sprint at Moree.
His race was over before it started as he left the gates awkwardly and settled four lengths behind the rest of the field and at the 600m mark was spotting the leader at least a dozen lengths to the turn, then on straightening, he could still see them all and while never a winning chance, he made up a ton of ground to pass more than half the field and cross the line 6.5 lengths from the winner.
Facing similar company here, he draws ideally in gate two and maps to settle better than mid-field on the fence and boasting previous success on his back, Aaron Bullock returns to steer the ship for this assignment.
Already a winner when second-up, and a two-time winner at the track and distance, he looks the testing material in this contest.
