Tatura Racing Tips for September 29 – Mare to Bee Admired at second career start

Bee Admired can go one spot better than a first-up effort that saw her finish runner-up at Kilmore on September 13. The Charlotte Littlefield-trained mare was slow to begin and settled further back than intended before working home nicely with the fastest last 200m to fill the exacta behind Portland Rose. She had some solid form last campaign when runner-up at Pakenham before a game fifth when posted wide throughout in a stronger maiden than this. The four-year-old draws wide and will need some luck in the early stages but does have sufficient gate speed to find a spot with cover in the forward half. This is a weak maiden and she comes in with the best last-start benchmark figures of any runner. Expected to go close.

Who I Think I Am should be hard to beat in Race 3. The Ciaron Maher-trained galloper has placed in two of her five career starts and has raced north of the border in all of those. She comes off a fourth placing at Newcastle over the 1900m when caught up front on a suicidal tempo, going 13 lengths faster than standard until the 600m before the tough run took its toll late. The daughter of So You Think ended up going three lengths slower than standard, which is a better figure than what any horse in this race has produced in their career to date. Prior to that, she was runner-up in successive races at Goulburn. She should be full of fitness at this stage of her preparation and can push forward to settle handy. Expect her to be in it for a long way.

Asmita has been knocking on the door for a while now, placing in four of her past five starts, with two of those coming in her current campaign. She was in a blanket finish when third at Sale over the 1000m on September 13, finishing behind Bold Bordeaux, and was unlucky prior to that at Pakenham when checked at a vital stage before again finishing third. At the third run of her last campaign, she was a five-length improver on benchmark figures when a very narrow runner-up at Yarra Valley in a race that produced six subsequent winners. The Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman-trained mare draws perfectly in barrier two, where she should be able to box seat.
