Siena Grima settled her back in the field, securing a spot on the fence until reaching the home turn, then weaving through traffic, the mare was hampered several times before finding clean air, then stormed home to finish one bound short of victory on the line.

The five-year-old has finished runner-up twice when second-up previously and will no doubt improve further after this bold effort.

The former English galloper is now with the strong Chris Waller stable and second-up on Saturday, turned plenty of heads with an impressive win in this event.

Damien Lane settled him back with the tailenders before tracking wide nearing the turn, then in the run home, had a bumping duel with the odds-on race favourite (Starzintheireyes) with the two of them going on to fight out the finish where the Frankel gelding got the bob-in on the line.

The British import sports an impressive resume boasting a win over 2400m at Randwick (on the Kensington circuit) and a runner-up finish in the Ranvet Stayers Cup at Rosehill over the same trip.

Still nominated for the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups, keep a close eye on this five-year-old.
