Steve Bennett picks out his blackbookers and horses to follow from Saturday racing at Rosehill on 14 March.

Race 1: Midway Hcp BM72 (1200m) – Audrey’s Lane

The lightly-raced five-year-old was first-up after more than seven months off the scene and carrying solid support from punters, led from barrier to box with Alysha Collett in the saddle.

Finding the front soon after the start, she set a moderate tempo to the turn before setting sail for home and in the run to the line, the 14-strong field couldn’t reel her in as she passed the post a length clear of them.

That’s four wins (with as many minor placings) from her 12 starts to date and already a two-time winner when second-up, she can go on with it from here.

Race 6: Maurice McCarten Stakes Group 3 (1100m) – King’s Secret

The Joe Pride-trained gelding resumed off a 10-week break on Saturday and turned plenty of heads with his fast-finishing third in the Group 3 event.

Andrew Adkins settled him mid-field early before working into the race as he scouted wide on the turn, then hit the line hard, taking plenty of ground off the first two past the post, beaten 1.5 lengths in the end.

Boasting strong stats when second and third-up, it should pay to keep him safe over his next two or three starts.

Race 10: BM88 H’Cap (1400m) – Modella

Second-up on Saturday, the Team Curtis-trained mare was impressive when she clobbered her rivals in this contest.

Zac Lloyd settled her back in the field before tracking wide on the turn where she was still near last, then stormed home to grab the lead inside the last 200m where she raced away to win by 1.5 lengths on the line.

That was win number three for the Castelvecchio mare and already a winner when third-up, the four-year-old has come back in great touch and appears to have a lot more to offer so stick with her for now.
