Grafton racing takes place on Monday, August 18 with a 7-race program set down for the Grafton racetrack.

We have the best bets picked from across the meeting with a Best Bet and other value selections for  Grafton racetrack.

Race 2: No.2  Dance Gavin Dance

The Owen Glue-trained galloper is in great touch of late and looks well placed here to give this event a real shake today.

Last start, the Royal Symphony gelding rang-up career-win number three when he took out a BM66 over 1000m at Casino.

Regular rider Danny Peisley settled him mid-field to the turn then in the run home, secured a rails  run and finished best to grab victory near the line.

Meeting similar company today, he draws ideally in gate two and maps to settle better than mid-field on the fence with Peisley in the saddle again.

Sporting the winkers for the first time today, a trouble-free run can see him collect the cash in this contest.

Race 4: No.1  Divine Mandate

Paul Shailer saddles-up Divine Mandate here who impressed on debut and looks even better suited in this company.

Last start, the Exceedance gelding faced the starter for the first time and did well to beat all but one home in a Maiden Plate over 1200m at the Gold Coast.

After several successful trials, he was sent out a white-hot ($1.85) favourite and after settling mid-field early, tracked wide on straightening then ran home strongly but arrived one bound too late, having to settle for second prize on the day.

Drawn in gate seven today, he maps to settle better than mid-field with cover and has Danny Peisley on board again for this assignment.

Fitter and more experienced today, he looks a major candidate for the winner’s cheque in this contest.

Race 5: No.2  You Are Mind

The Matt Dunn-trained galloper returns to country class racing today and is more than capable of bouncing back in this event.

Last start, the Brutal gelding came off his maiden win on this track when he stepped-up to Class 1 company in the city and found them just a little too sharp on the day, finishing unplaced over the mile trip at Eagle Farm.

With apprentice Jace McMurray aboard, he settled fourth, one off the fence to the turn, then in the run home, tried valiantly to go with them, but the extra trip and the class told in the end as he weakened out of it over the final 150m.

Drawn in gate six today, he maps to settle in the first half-dozen with the stable fitting the blinkers for the first time.

Andrew Mallyon has his first ride on the four-year-old and dropping back in grade and down to the 1430m trip, he looks a great chance to atone for his city-class effort and claim victory in this contest.

Race 7: No.7  Awarded Glory

The Trevor Whittington-trained galloper is in great touch this time in and down in grade today, looks a solid winning chance at odds in this event.

Last start, the Shamus Award gelding bounced back from an unplaced effort here when he stepped up in grade and beat all but one home in a Class 2 Hcp over 1600m at Coffs Harbour.

Unwanted in the market ($16), he settled mid-field early before sweeping around them on the turn, then in the run home, eventually found the front but was grabbed by one better on the day, leaving him with the silver medal for the race.

Dropping back to BM58 company here, he draws nicely in gate two and maps to settle better than mid-field on the fence with Ray Spokes as the new pilot.

At his peak here and already a winner at the track, he looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
