Race 4: No.2 Champagne Crusader
The Simon Miller-trained galloper is three starts into this preparation and looks ready to produce his best in this event.
Last start, the Universal Ruler gelding was third-up and showed plenty of improvement when he beat all but one home in a 1200m Handicap on this track.
Drawn the outside gate (12), Chloe Azzopardi settled him last to the turn before tracking wide then down the centre of the track, finished strongly to arrive in time and claim second prize on the line.
From gate seven here, he maps to settle in the back half of the field with Jefferson Tsang returning for his third ride on the gelding.
Fourth-up here, the four-year-old should be at his peak and already a track and distance winner here, he should prove hard to hold out in this contest.
Race 6: No.4 Eternal Romance
The Team Pearce-trained galloper has been in good touch this time in and down slightly in grade here, looks every chance of bouncing back and challenging for the big prize in this event.
Last start, the British-sired mare stepped-up sharply in distance and finished unplaced in a One Metro Win Hcp, here over 2100m.
Lucy Fiore settled her mid-field early, then in the run home, the mare failed to click and crossed the line 3.5 lengths behind the winner on the day.
A Vets report disclosed the mare had an elevated hear rate (post-race) which may have contributed to her poor performance.
Facing Rating 54+ runners here, she draws gate five and maps to settle better than mid-field and after steering her to victory twice previously, Tasha Faithfull returns to steer the ship again for this assignment.
Already a winner at the track and at her peak here, the five-year-old looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
Race 7: No.2 Pure Obsession
The Ascot-based galloper enjoys racing here and with four starts under his belt now should be ready to strike in this event.
Last start, the Sessions gelding put in his performance this campaign when he beat all but one home in a Class 3 Hcp, here over 1400m.
Carrying 60kgs, he settled mid-field to the turn, then scouting wide, he secured clean air and finished strongly, arriving in time to claim the silver medal for the race.
Spotting the winner 4kgs, he conceded too much start that day.
Leaving the machine from barrier eight here, he maps to settle near mid-field off the fence with Jordan Turner retaining the ride for this assignment.
At his peak here and already a track and distance winner, the five-year-old looks set to go one better in this contest.
