Last start, the American-sired gelding resumed after 11 months off the scene and having his first race on Australian soil, took out a Class 1 over 1880m at Newcastle.
Dylan Gibbons settled the former international galloper fourth one off the fence to the turn before scouting wide and in the run home, eventually reached the leaders then went on to score by half a length with plenty in reserve.
Stepping-up to the 2200m trip here, he draws gate six and maps to cross and settle just behind the speed with Gibbons aboard again.
The import made it look easy last start and looks the testing material again in this contest.
Race 4: No.3 Leica Storm
The Matt Smith-trained galloper is third-up today and after two-straight podium finishes, he looks ready to strike in this event.
Last start, the Snitzel gelding finished a close-up third in a BM64 Hcp over 1500m at Newcastle.
From the outside gate (10), Claire Ramsbotham settled him second outside the leader to the turn, then in the run home, he tended to hang out before straightening inside the final 200m and fought on gamely to grab third prize, beaten just a neck on the line.
Even fitter for those two runs back, he draws much better in gate three today where he maps to be box-seating on settling and after steering him to victory on this track three starts back, Jason Collett returns to steer the ship for this assignment.
Already a winner when third-up and boasting track and distance success as well, he looks in the mix for a win in this contest.
Race 6: No.2 Monte Veebee
The Team Price-trained galloper is second-up today and boasting a glowing resume, looks set for another first-class effort in this event.
Last start, the Snitzel gelding resumed after five months off the scene and recorded his 12th podium finish from 15 career starts when he beat all but one home in a BM72 Hcp over 1250m at Canterbury.
Grant Buckley had him leading on settling and set a good pace to the turn, then in the run home, he fought like a caged tiger but just found one better on the day, hanging on gamely for second prize.
From gate five here, he maps to be out front on settling with Buckley behind the wheel again.
Placed in all four previous second-up appearances and runner-up in both track and distance attempts as well, the five-year-old has proven to be a real asset to punters and looks well worth another each-way ticket in this contest.
